The Newhaven ceremonies begin with a service at St Michael's Church at 9.45am followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial and the Lewes ceremonies will take place at 2.30pm with the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial followed by a service at St John sub Castro. The calls on the British Legion funds increase year by year as they endeavour to safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of the ever increasing number of those who are serving or have served in the Armed Forces. It is through the Poppy Appeal that they provide the practical help for those in need during times of hardship and distress. Your help in meeting these needs will be greatly appreciated.’ Lewes District Council is supporting the call from the Royal British Legion for a National Two Minute Silence on Tuesday 11 November at 11am.
