The Place Survey, which all councils must carry out as part of a national research study, will begin at the end of September and run for around 6 weeks. Questionnaires will be sent to a random sample of 3,000 local residents in the Lewes District asking for their views about their local area and covering such topics as affordable housing, facilities for young children, crime and anti-social behaviour and public transport. The purpose of the survey is to find out what issues concern local people most and what they think about the services they receive from Lewes District Council, East Sussex County Council and other agencies such as the Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Primary Care Trusts. Lewes District Council Leader, Ann De Vecchi said "This is a very important survey for the Council and its partners. The results will help us to work together to address issues of local concern and to see how our services can be improved." The results of the survey will be known in the New Year.
