Human-induced climate change is occurring and everyone has a part to play in reducing carbon emissions. During this time of rising energy, transport and food costs many ‘green’ alternatives can save money. The Local Sustainability Team is able to provide advice on energy conservation, recycling, transport alternatives, local food choices, renewable energy solutions, water reduction, low impact building and many other sustainable solutions for a low carbon lifestyle. Recently the Trailer which is powered by a turbine and solar panels has visited a number of schools where the Team have led workshops on how to reduce your carbon footprint as well as demonstrating renewable energy through activities such as solar car racing and windmill art design. A new feature which has proved extremely popular at many of the events the Team have visited is the Light Library loaned to the Council by Eco-Street which can demonstrate virtually every type of low energy bulb available and is of course entirely powered by renewable energy. If you are interested in the Trailer being at an event you are holding then please call the Sustainability Team on 01273 474968 to discuss or email sustainability@lewes.gov.uk.
